Setting up spam filtering with Outlook Express 6

Go to the tools menu, and select the 'Message Rules' option, and then select the 'Mail' option in the sub-menu that appears. A new window will appear.

Press the 'New' button in the new window; another new window will appear.

In the box titled 'Select the conditions for your rule', click in the box by 'Where the Subject line contains specific words', so that a tick appears in it

In the box titled 'Select the Actions for your rule', click in the box by 'Move it to the specified folder' so that a tick appears in it.

In the 'Name of the rule' box, type the word 'SPAM'.

In box no. 3, 'Rule Description', click on the blue-highlighted 'contains specific words' text. A new window will appear. In the first text box, type '**SPAM**', press the 'Add' button, then press the 'OK' button to close the window.

Click the 'specified' highlighted wird in the second sentence in box no.3 (Rule description). A new window will appear. Press the 'New Folder' button - another new window will appear.

In the new window, enter the word 'SPAM', and press 'OK'. to close the window.

Make sure the newly-created 'SPAM' folder is selected in the window you are taken back to, and press 'OK' on all windows until you area taken back to the main Outlook window.

You can now continue to use your email as usual, with a new folder called 'SPAM' in your folder listing where 'possible spam' messages will be filtered into.
